# Identify Indications of Divine Guidance on Your Path to Healing: Understand How to Notice Spiritual Prompts and Welcome Inner Change
Discovering Signs of Divine Guidance
In the early morning of July 17, 2017, I was on my way to work after a particularly difficult night. Those days, I struggled just to get out of bed. As I approached the garage door, something stopped me in my tracks. Mornings in Wisconsin tend to be dewy, but what I saw was more than just a dew-covered door. To me, it felt like a sign from my loved one, Andy, letting me know he was with me, offering strength. Today, I interpret this moment as a message that he is also watching over my dad.
At that time, I didn’t know much about signs, angel numbers, or how spiritual guidance manifests in music and other forms. Back then, I simply thought the image resembled angel wings. I took a picture and continued on with my day. Now, as I look around, I notice angel wings, eagles, and angels surrounding me in love and support. Signs of divine guidance and spiritual nudges are everywhere if we take the time to notice them.
The Role of Grief in My Journey
Mornings in 2017 were filled with my struggle to find the strength to get out of bed. I was also caring for a grieving 7-year-old who was reluctant to go to school. Earlier that year, my youngest son Brady’s father and my partner of 13 years took his own life. I was unaware that my grieving was not being done properly. I didn’t understand that this would lead to pent-up rage, resentment, and guilt.
Losing foundational pillars in my life, like my grandma in 2001 and my dad in 2004, profoundly impacted me. I didn’t allow myself to fully experience the range of emotions that come with such losses. Although I let myself cry in solitude, I would often ask, "Why are you crying?" and feel embarrassed. I labeled myself a "baby" and wallowed in self-pity. I dismissed my tears, stuffing away the very emotions that needed to be released. This belief stemmed from my childhood, where expressing tears was discouraged. I learned that beliefs are just recurring thoughts. Change your thoughts, change your life.
Confronting Emotional Challenges
I never permitted myself to feel emotions beyond anger. Anger was familiar to me, and it led me to dark places where my hidden emotions surfaced. It became a release valve for pent-up feelings and made me feel seen. Yet, I still struggle with embracing the full range of my emotions—the good, the bad, and the ugly. Allowing myself to explore these feelings enabled me to delve into my emotional maturity.
My journey of divine guidance pushed me to seek more knowledge on gaining emotional intelligence. I recommend reading Atlas of the Heart by Brené Brown and Emotional Intelligence 2.0 by Travis Bradberry & Jean Greaves. If you prefer visual learning, their podcasts offer valuable insights, too. It's essential to fully immerse ourselves in emotional experiences. Each emotion carries its own benefits that we often overlook.
Tools for Emotional Understanding
I have recently discovered the Feeling Wheel and other graphics that distinguish between emotions, feelings, and moods, available at positive psychology.com. They clarify the different layers of our emotional experiences. Recently, I also joined Mind Valley, a treasure trove of resources, including lessons, journal prompts, and meditations. This platform covers various categories, helping you navigate your journey and focus on the lessons that resonate with you.
Embracing Spiritual Nudges
As I allow more spiritual nudges and divine guidance into my life, I notice a transformation. I am becoming more aligned with my best self. This journey fuels my mind, body, and soul.
In closing, remember that noticing divine signs and embracing emotional health can lead to profound changes. The experiences we share and learn from can light the path for ourselves and others. Together, let's honor our emotions and allow them to guide us.
Sending Love and Light,
C
